Dental implants | tooth implant procedure and costs

Dental implants are prosthesis that interfaces with the bone of the jaw to support a dental prosthesis.

What are dental implants?

In recent years, implants are becoming one of the most popular dental procedures worldwide. Due to numerous breakthroughs in terms of material used and developments when it comes to techniques which are resulting in improved quality and shorter recovery time as well as longevity it is safe to say that dental implants are the most popular dental treatment for a reason.

By a definition, dental implant is a prosthesis that interfaces with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, or facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.

The basis of modern dental implants is a biological process called osseointegration, where materials such as titanium and zirconium are intimately bound to the bone. The implant is first placed so that it is likely to be osseointegrated, and afterwards, the denture is added. Healing time for osseointegration may vary, but it is required prior to attaching a denture (tooth, bridge, or denture) to an implant or placing an abutment to hold the denture/crown.

For whom are dental implants the best solution?

Dental implants are by far the best long-term solution for those with missing teeth whether due to tooth decay, old age, trauma, gum disease, previous extractions, any kind of malformation or simply because you fancy having shiny teeth due to aesthetics. Dental implants can be used in various situations such as to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth and even all teeth while restoring their natural appearance and most importantly, their function. Tooth implants are a popular choice for wearers of removable dentures as, unlike dentures, they are fixed and stay in place, allowing you to enjoy your daily life without discomfort or embarrassment.

What is the procedue of dental implants?

The implant is surgically implanted in the bone, the implantation process lasts 20-40 minutes per implant, and surgical sutures are placed, which are removed in 7-10 days. After the surgery, the process of osseointegration of the implant begins (fusion of the bone and the implant for the implant to be fully functional).

The process of osseointegration lasts 4-6 months. With the completion of osseointegration, the first phase of implant placement was completed. After 4-6 months, patients come to the office to continue therapy.

How much time do you need for a treatment?

After the process of osseointegration, the gingiva of the former is placed on the implant for 7-10 days to shape the gums around the implant. Impressions are taken and superstructures (abutments) are made for dental restoration. Making a replacement takes 5-10 days.
The replacement can be a prosthesis, a bridge or a crown – depending on the patient’s wishes. The most popular are zircon ceramic crowns that perfectly mimic a natural tooth.

FEATURED TYPE OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

All on 4 dental implants

For people who want to avoid dentures, all on 4 treatment is the best option. This technique uses four fixed dental implants per jaw in order to serve as a strong jawbone basis for a single tooth or bridge of teeth. It is the most popular dental implant procedure as it requires only four titanium screws attached to the jawbone.

All on 6 dental implants

In the first method described there are four dental implants per jaw, but in this case, there are six titanium screws evenly distributed per jaw. This procedure is ideal for people who lack teeth and whose jawbone is partially healthy
